A unique way to see Tennessee's Secret City

The history of Oak Ridge is rooted in America’s resolve to bring World War II to an end and the pursuit of scientific advancement. That spirit continues today and there is a special tour that lets you in on some of the “secrets” of the city and takes you to places you likely won’t see any other way. The Department of Energy Bus Tours run for several months of the year, all beginning at the American Museum of Science and Energy. Here is what you’ll see along the way.

Abbeville, a South Carolina treasure

As soon as you come into downtown Abbeville, time seems to stand still.  The paved roads turn to brick streets, slowing you down to enjoy the town’s charm and distinct character.  Colorful buildings, many of which date back more than a hundred years, line up around the square including the Abbeville County Courthouse built in the early 1900’s.   Whether you’re in town for a few hours or a few days, here are some things to do while you are there.

Ninety-Six South Carolina’s Star Fort

When talking about battlefields in the South most people think about the Civil War.  South Carolina is where the War Between the States began, but it’s also home to some important Revolutionary War sites too.  For years, I’ve seen signs for the Ninety-Six National Historic Site but never really knew much about it until I finally got to visit.   Here is a look at what you’ll find at this historical park.
