Lighting up the fall nights at Dollywood

Lighting up the fall nights at Dollywood

Dollywood's newest seasonal attraction appears to be a big hit and once you've seen it up close and in person, you'll know why.  Pumpkin Luminights kicked off at the end of September and runs through October 28th.   The fun is centered in the Timber Canyon area of the park.

As you make your way up the hill toward the park's famed wooden roller coaster, Thunderhead, the nights start coming to life.   Nearly two dozen glowing jack-o-lanterns gaze from below the railroad trestle as you enter the heart of the Pumpkin Luminights.

If you've been to this part of Dollywood before, you probably remember the cemetery in Timber Canyon.  During this special celebration, jack-o-lanterns dance to the music and have you singing along to favorites like "Thriller" and "Monster Mash."

There are thousands of pumpkins scattered throughout this section of the park, but they aren't the only things lighting up the fall nights.  Dollywood's 230 foot high, Dropline, is all lit up for the occasion.  Different colors outline the ride as it shoots into the night sky and just below the riders' seats even more add to the special show.   (The ride also provides one of the best night time views of the park.)

Jack-o-lanterns of all shapes and sizes including ones resembling cats, owls and bats await you at every corner of Timber Canyon, but don't worry, the magnificent fall displays of years past can be found throughout the park.  There's also dozens of Southern Gospel concerts and craftsmen from all across the country demonstrating their skills and selling their creations.

It's trip time and Dollywood's Pumpkin Luminights should be on your list.
